Follow you HEART, but be quiet for a while first. Ask questions, then feel the answer. Learn to trust your heart. – Author Unknown
I remember the first time I heard the word “brainstorming” and accepted the definition as a technique for solving problems and challenges, stimulating creative thinking, and generating new ideas. Whether participating in this practice with a group of people, or solo, I often found the process tedious, ineffective, and inauthentic. Was it fun to bounce ideas around with other people? Yes, but more from a social perspective. Was it exhilarating to work on this activity by myself? Never. My “A HA!” moment came when I realized the reason I dreaded brainstorming was because I literally focused on the “brain” portion of the word. I believed that the best ideas would come from my mind.
My belief in dreams, ideas, goals, transformation, transition, healing, and resolutions coming from my brain often resulted in creative blocks, fears, negative thinking, and unsettling emotions. I didn’t understand why everything had to feel so hard, as if I was going against the grain. I couldn’t wrap my brain around why I wasn’t excited about my dreams. They seemed just okay and doable. ICK! Was I really going to go through life with blah expectations?
One of my greatest transformations occurred during a silent retreat. Without communication to the outside world, by means of a phone and the Internet, as well as stilling my mind and releasing a whole lot of mental clutter, I heard for the first time a still small voice – my heart. Boy, did it have a lot to say! The ideas and guidance flowed effortlessly and without judgment. There was immediate connection and alignment. I felt a oneness, a HARMONY, with my mind, body and spirit. This is not to say that the information I was led to hear didn’t scare me or make me question why in the world I had decided to shut up long enough to listen to my heart. But, I knew that I knew that I knew my heart would only guide me in positive directions. The difference with these dreams and ideas that showed up versus the ones I had brainstormed – they were divine, they were authentic, and they were mine!
I no longer hold or facilitate brainstorming sessions with groups or on my own. Instead they are called “Heart Storming” sessions. The heart is guided by our spirit, which knows the unique gifts, skills, and talents we’ve been blessed with since birth. Heart Storming isn’t concerned with validation or approval from external sources or influences. Leading with your heart, trusting your heart, stilling your mind to hear the guidance from your heart, allows you to successfully work with your mind. There must be a balance between mind and heart, intellect and love, and brain and spirit.

Happiness is when you think, what you say, and what you do are in HARMONY. – Mahatma Gandhi
I am safe when I release control and trust in spirit to guide me. When I let go and trust my heart, I find that fears disappear. I’m not focused on the “what ifs” or worried about making the wrong decision. I experience peace, clarity and a harmony of mind, body and spirit.
Immediately I am able to recognize when I have separated from my HEART and shifted to my ego. The most menial of tasks appear to be troublesome. I feel cluttered, scattered and experience self-doubt. I reach out to others to approve decisions and validate choices. During these moments, harmony does not exist because I’ve shut out my spirit.
Allowing HARMONY to enter our lives is a conscious choice. Opening our HEARTS to allow divine expression is a conscious choice. Aligning our thoughts, words, actions and emotions to support the gifts we truly are and the dynamic and delicious life we are creating is a conscious choice.
HARMONY is a result of living our absolute truth without apology. We are at peace with the skin we’re in and the life we are creating. With HARMONY in mind, body and spirit, we are unstoppable!
Know this affirmation: I am a demonstration of peace, love and HARMONY in everything I do.
HEALING takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it. – Tori Amos
What comes to your HEART when you think of the word, HEALING? Do you immediately focus on health issues or a larger need at hand – the complete HEALING of your mind, body and spirit?
It seems logical to want healing in our life. We want to be healed from an illness and a physical wound. We want to experience healing for past abuses, emotional wounds, and relationships. We want healing for our self-doubts, self-criticisms, and lack of forgiveness. With all of this wanting, how active are we in taking responsibility for our healing? Are we an important element in the cause of our healing or do we look to others to “fix” us?
It takes great courage and self-love to go within and look at the areas in our life that need to be healed. More often than not, and without our control, those very thoughts, moments, experiences and relationships that are ready to be healed show up in some fashion. At first, it might appear that it’s just a bad memory we’d sooner forget, but the Universe does not bring anyone or anything into our lives that we are not strong enough to handle. You are ready to experience healing, even if it’s only one piece of a larger issue.
Allowing ourselves to HEAL, invites HARMONY. Giving ourselves the gift of HEALING is a result of listening to our HEART. With HEALING, we recognize wholeness. We know that we are not defined by an illness or outward appearances. When we shift our consciousness toward the HEALING process, our HEART guides us gently toward the right and perfect people and situations.
Healing takes time, and instead of focusing on the concept of time and what feels like an impossible journey, express GRATITUDE for what you are able to release daily.
Know this affirmation: I AM connected to the guidance of my HEART. My mind, body and spirit are in HARMONY. I release lack and limiting thoughts and welcome the process of HEALING in all areas of my life.
You are an expression of HEART, HARMONY and HEALING.

Humanity’s misfortune is when we don’t realize the very gifts we are! We don’t serve the rest of the world or ourselves by playing small. Live your life big! Own your truth! We must embrace the knowing that we deserve to live a life we love, one that supports who and what we are. We need to be willing to say, ‘Yes! I choose me!’
